Die Ausstellung FutureShock OneTwo befasst sich mit zwei inhaltlichen Komponenten: zum einen aktuellen Trends in der Weiterentwicklung der Neuen Konkreten, nicht-gegenständlichen Kunst; zum anderen dem Potential der Philosophie hinter dieser Kunst und ihrer Bedeutung für die Gesellschaft im Allgemeinen.
31 Künstlerinnen und Künstler aus 10 Ländern und drei Kontinenten zeigen jeweils eine Arbeit, die sie persönlich mit einem Ausblick auf die Zukunft verbinden.

Den Auftakt des Ausstellungsjahrs von dr. julius | ap markiert eine Gruppenausstellung eingeladener Künstlerinnen und Künstler aus Europa, den USA und Australien. Die teilnehmenden Künstlerinnen und Künstler zeigen in der Ausstellung jeweils eine Arbeit, die sie persönlich mit einem Ausblick auf die Zukunft verbinden.
Der Titel reflektiert die gegenwärtige Verunsicherung [FutureShock] in allen Lebensbereichen: es scheint immer klarer zu werden, dass es so wie bisher nicht weitergehen wird. Darin liegt jedoch auch eine große Chance zur Innovation. Die Ausstellung möchte einen Auftakt dazu anzählen [OneTwo], sich dem - bezogen auf Internationale Neue Konkrete sowie benachbarte Felder der Kunst - zu stellen und aktuelle Entwicklungen anhand der Haltung der gezeigten Künstlerinnen und Künstler zu hinterfragen.
Ein wichtiges Ziel ist es zudem, in eine übergeordnete Diskussion um Neue Konkrete Tendenzen einzutreten sowie deren Potential auszuloten, Perspektiven auf das Leben an sich zu verändern, etwa im Vergleich zu narrativen Kunstströmungen.
Darüber hinaus sollen die Beziehungen von Kunst und Wertbestimmung behandelt werden: in Zeiten fundamentaler Krisen monetärer Systeme stellt sich die Frage nach dem eigentlichen Wert künstlerischer Arbeit neu. Ist Geld tatsächlich der adäquate Gegenwert für Kunst? Trägt diese nicht einen an sich viel höheren Mehrwert in sich? Könnte Kunst nicht ein alternatives Wertesystem sein, geistig wie auch materiell?

The exhibition FutureShock OneTwo showcases two components: first, current trends in the advancement of the New Concrete and non-objective art; and second the potential of the philosophy behind this art to impact society.

For the first exhibition in 2012 dr. julius | ap will present FutureShock OneTwo, a group show featuring a selection of international artists from three continents. Participants each display a work of theirs that they feel looks ahead towards the future.
The title reflects the current uncertainty in all areas of life: it seems to be increasingly clear that things will not evolve as predictably and smoothly as they have in the past. However, this is also a great opportunity for innovation. The exhibition wants to ask what role the International New Concrete and neighboring fields of art might play in this new era.
An important goal of this exhibition is to have the artists join a general discussion on the future of non-objective art, such as its potential to influence one‘s perspective on life, especially in comparison with narrative forms of art. Moreover, it is to explore the relation of art and value: in times of a fundamental crisis in the monetary system, can money really be the adequate equivalent in which to trade art? Is the work of the artist actually not more than money can ever be? Could art be an alternative system of values, mentally and materially?
